MP village accounts for 300 teachers
Indore, Feb 3 (PTI) Low literacy in rural areas andscarcity of teachers may be a concern for the government, butKudana village here is a rare exception which raises hopes ofa bright future.
Despite having a population of just about 5,000, thevillage accounts for 300 teachers, who teach in Kudana as wellas the neighbouring areas. No wonder then that the literacyrate of the village is almost 90 per cent.
The figures came to light when some officials, includingdistrict magistrate Raghavendra Singh, spent a night in thevillage, about 50 km from here, and spoke to villagers aboutimplementation of various government schemes, officials said.
The officials were collecting information on variousthings like availability of drinking water, electricity supplyand health, they said.
The villagers have asked the collector to set up a highfor girls in Kudana. The collector has directed officials tosubmit a proposal in this regard to the state government, theofficials said.
