Maha BJP demands CBI probe into Sonawane''s killing

Mumbai, Feb 3 (PTI) Maharashtra BJP today demanded that aCBI probe be ordered into the brutal murder of AdditionalCollector Yashwant Sonawane, by oil adulteration mafia in thestate.

A delegation of BJP leaders led by Eknath Khadse andSudhir Mungantiwar met State Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavantoday in the Secretariate and put forward the demand.

"We told the Chief Minister that the CBI should probekilling of Sonawane and the Government should also come upwith a white paper on externment cases in the past fiveyears," Mungantiwar said.

The BJP leader said that phone records of the accused inthe case need to be checked to know if any politicians areinvolved in it.

Mungantiwar also extended his party''s co-operation to thegovernment in taking strict action against oil, milk andsand mafia in the state.

The BJP delegation had met Governor K Sankarnarayananalso yesterday on the same issue.

The Malegaon Additional Collector was set ablaze nearManmad in Nashik on January 25 by the oil mafia.
