Insurgents can vote if their names are on the voters list: CEC
Guwahati, Feb 3 (PTI) The members of banned outfits ULFA,NDFB and other insurgent groups can cast their vote in theupcoming Assembly elections in Assam if their names figure inthe electoral roll, Chief Election Commissioner S Y Quraishitoday said.
"They can vote if their names are in the voters roll.
There is no law which can stop them from voting. But anybodynot in the voters roll, including me, cannot vote," he said ata press conference when asked if a member of a banned outfitcan vote.
Asked if ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and other ULFAcadres, now out on parole, could exercise their franchise, hesaid, "Technically all those in the voters list can vote." PTIESB CR
