CRPF jawan seeks police protection after alleged Kanpur attack on his family

A CRPF jawan posted with a CoBRA battalion in Jharkhand has appealed for police protection after alleging a local history-sheeter tried to enter his Kanpur home, abused relatives, threw bricks, and issued threats. He says his disabled mother, wife, and children are fearful and cites earlier complaints that led to limited action.

A CRPF jawan serving with a CoBRA battalion in Jharkhand has asked for police protection for family members. The appeal followed an alleged attack at the jawan’s home in Kanpur’s Maharajpur area. A video shared online triggered strong reactions on social media. The jawan identified the accused as local history-sheeter C D S Verma alias Golden Verma.

Police said a case was already filed at the Maharajpur police station. The complaint was submitted by the jawan’s wife, Sonika Devi. ACP Abhishek Pandey said police were trying to locate the accused. The officer also noted that the accused and the complainant are from the same extended family.

CRPF jawan video raises fears over family safety

In the viral clip, Manish Kumar said the incident happened on Monday night. Manish Kumar said Manish Kumar was away on duty then. Manish Kumar alleged the accused tried to force entry into the house. Manish Kumar said Manish Kumar’s physically disabled mother, wife and minor children were inside at that time.

Manish Kumar claimed the accused was drunk and used abusive language. Manish Kumar said stones and bricks were thrown at the home. Manish Kumar also alleged attempts were made to break into the premises. Manish Kumar claimed the accused issued death threats. Manish Kumar also alleged the accused often threatens other local residents.

Manish Kumar questioned, "who would protect the families of soldiers deployed in the borders and for anti-Naxal operations.\" Manish Kumar also said, \"My family is living in fear. Should we continue protecting the nation or leave our duties to protect our own families?\" Manish Kumar appealed for urgent police action and security for the family.

CRPF jawan case: FIR, search and Goonda Act action

ACP Abhishek Pandey said, \"an FIR had already been registered at the Maharajpur police station based on a complaint lodged by Kumars wife Sonika Devi.\" Pandey added, \"A search is underway to trace and arrest the accused at the earliest.\" Police did not share further details on the search operation.

Pandey said steps under the Goonda Act were started against Verma months ago. Pandey also said externment proceedings were in progress against Verma. These measures were mentioned while responding to the video. The police response came after the issue drew public attention online.

Manish Kumar also referred to earlier complaints against the same person. Manish Kumar said similar incidents occurred in 2013 and 2019. Manish Kumar claimed police earlier applied only minor charges despite repeated reports. The jawan said the past handling added to concerns about safety for the family.

The case remains under investigation as police continue efforts to arrest the accused. The jawan’s claims and the police statements have kept attention on the matter. Authorities said legal action had already been started through the FIR. Further updates are expected once the accused is traced and questioning begins.
