Elected public representatives authorised to inspect PDS shops
Jaipur, Feb 3 (PTI) To strengthen public distributionsystem, Rajasthan government has authorised elected publicrepresentatives to conduct inspection of Public DistributionSystem (PDS) shops.
"We have given the right of inspection to electedpublic representatives. They will be allowed to see accounts,functioning of distribution, ration cards. District Collectorsand District Supply Officers will also help them," State Foodand Civil Supply Minister Babu Lal Naagar said here today.
"This is an initiative to strengthen the PDS in thestate under which local MP, MLA, Zila Pramukh, Zila Parishadmembers, Pradhan and members of Panchayat Samiti, councillorsof municipal corporation, municipality, Sarpanch and wardpanch of Gram Panchayat have been authorised for theinspection," he added.
