4 persons arrested with 139 kg of poppy on JK highway

Jammu, Feb 3 (PTI) Four persons were arrested and 139kg of poppy was recovered from their possession in twoseparate incidents on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Jammudistrict, police said here today.

Acting on a tip off, police had set up check points onthe highway at Jajjar-Kotli in the district last night.

A truck was intercepted by the police and duringsearch, 124 kg of poppy was recovered from it at Jajjar Kotli,they said, adding that truck driver Guru Baksh Singh and itsconductor Om Prakash were also arrested.

In another incident, police intercepted a truck andrecovered 15 kg of poppy straw on the highway at Jajjar Kotliand arrested its driver and cleaner identified as MuzafarAhmed of Pulwama and Muzaffar of Srinagar respectively, theysaid.
