SRM University student was ragged: Postmortem report

Ghaziabad, Feb 1 (PTI) The postmortem report of an MBAstudent, who fell from the fourth floor in SRM Universitycampus on Independence Day last year, has revealed that he wasragged by seniors.

Eight injury marks were found on Abhishek Jha''s bodyand six were scratches and abrasion which could be causedduring ragging, said doctors, who conducted the postmortem,seeking anonymity.

A team of University Grant Commission (UGC) todayvisited the campus for conducting an inquiry into the death.

The team had also arrived at the campus yesterday.

Jai Kant Jha, the deceased''s father, had lodged an FIRin Niwari police station here against five persons includingDean of the university, Vinod Panday.

No arrest, however, could be made in this matter asthe investigation is still pending due to a special probe.

Jai Kant yesterday visited the university campus andagain accused the dean and other students named in the FIR ofbeing responsible for the murder of his son.

The 20-year-old MBA student at SRM University''s NCRcampus in Modi Nagar had fallen from the fourth floor of hiscollege hostel building.
