Jagan aide slams Chiranjeevi

Guntur (AP), Feb 1 (PTI) A close aide of formerCongress MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy today slammed actor-politician Chiranjeevi over his party''s proposed alliance withthe ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh.

"The Telugu matinee idol has dashed the hopes of lakhsof people. They reposed immense faiths in him. The actor owesan explanation to them," Ambati Rambabu told reporters here.

Congress leader and Defence Minister A K Antony held ameeting with Chiranjeevi in Hyderabad yesterday and extendedan invitation to him to go to Delhi for a meeting withCongress President Sonia Gandhi.

The proposed tie-up is aimed at bailing out thebeleaguered Congress in Andhra Pradesh, Rambabu said.

Describing Jagan as a "political trend setter",Rambabu said the 37-year-old son of the former Chief Ministerlate Y S R Reddy will emerge victorious in his battle with theCongress, which he left late last year.
