Goa to develop GTDC''s properties under PPP mode
Panaji, Feb 1 (PTI) Goa government-run TourismCorporation has decided to develop its idle properties underpublic private partnership (PPP) mode.
State Tourism Minister Nilkant Halarnkar told the StateLegislative Assembly today that Goa Tourism DevelopmentCorporation (GTDC) has identified some idle properties fordevelopment under PPP mode to create world class tourisminfrastructure by following government guidelines.
The Minister said that land properties at Baga beach andBritona, adjacent to Panaji are proposed to be developed inthe first phase.
He said that the proposal has been accorded preliminaryapproval by the Project Appraisal Committee headed by theChief Secretary and cabinet approval is awaited.
Halarnkar said that several properties transferred toGTDC from time to time could be developed for creatingworld class tourism infrastructure by adopting the PPP model.
"It is expected that this will improve the financialstatus of the corporation, create excellent tourisminfrastructure, create employment opportunities for the Goanunemployed youths and help in promoting Goa as a world classtourism destination", he said. PTO RPSABC
