Four killed in AP mishap

Hyderabad, Feb 2 (PTI) Four persons, including a womanand a child, were killed and five others sustained injuriesafter a railway engine hit an auto-rickshaw at an unmannedrailway crossing in Andhra Pradesh''s Mahabubnagar districtthis evening, officials said.

The incident occurred at around 5.30 pm when theauto-rickshaw tried to cross the railway track at an unmannedcrossing near Devarakadra in Mahabubnagar, they said.

The train engine hit the vehicle resulting in theinstantaneous death of four persons including a woman and achild while five other occupants were injured, MahabubnagarDistrict Superintendent of Police Sudheer Babu told PTI overphone.

South Central Railway officials said the wreckage on thetrack was immediately cleared and train services on the routewas not affected due to the incident. The injured were rushedto a nearby hospital. Further investigations are on.
