BJP workers protest radio-tagging of Indian students in US
Chennai, Feb 1 (PTI) Around 50 BJP workers were todayarrested for trying to stage a protest outside the USConsulate General here against the radio-tagging of Indianstudents duped by a university in US.
Police said the protestors, some of whom had worn chainson their ankles to symbolically protest the tracking devicebeing fitted on Indian students, were arrested as theyassembled outside the consular office without permission.
The agitators were led by senior leader of the party''sstate unit, Dr Tamizhisai Sounderrajan, police said.
The BJP activists also raised slogans against the move bythe US authorities. They were later released on bail, theyadded.
A number of Indian students were forced to wear radiocollars around their ankles after being duped by Tri-valleyUniversity, which has now been closed.
