69th annual conference of AIOS in Ahmedabad begins tomorrow
Ahmedabad, Feb 2 (PTI) The 69th annual conference ofthe All India Opthalmological Society (AIOS) would be heldhere from February 3-6, to discuss new technologies, surgicaltechniques and innovation in Opthalmology.
"Over 7,000 Opthalmologists from across the country andnearly 500 delegates from abroad have already registered toparticipate in this conference," Chief Organising secretary ofthe conference Dr Tejas Shah told reporters here today.
He said at the conference various doctors from across thecountry and abroad would share knowledge with each other anddiscuss the evolution of ophthalmology.
Shah said there was lot of discussion going on in thefraternity on paediatric blindness and on reading glasses.
"There is expected to be lot of discussion on how to treatblindness or ophthalmological problems in small children.
Besides this there would be talks on possibility of removal ofreading glasses in people above 40 years," he added.
Shah said that besides the doctors who would be makingover 1,000 presentations during the four-day conference andover 2,500 exhibitors would display new products andtechnology that could be used in treatment of eyes.
He also said that present requirement of eyes fortransplantation was 10 times more than what is receivedthrough individual donations.
