Karna gets new interim DG
Bangalore, Jan 31 (PTI): Senior police Officer S T Rameshwas today appointed the interim DG and IGP of Karnataka.
Ramesh, a 1976 batch IPS officer assumed charge of thenew role from Ajaikumar Singh, who retired today.
The state Government decided to go for an interimappointment to succeed Singh in view of a stay by CAT on acircular to the government that it should consider all thoseofficers who have 30 years experience for the top job whilemaking the selection.
DGP D V Guruprasad, now heading the CID has secured thestay.
At a brief ceremony in which Singh handed over the baton toRamesh, thanked the Government, people and his staff for thecooperation given to him as DG and IGP in the last two years.
Ramesh thanked the government for entrusting him with theresponsibility and also sought cooperation of personnel in hisdepartment.
The ceremony was delayed by more than two hours, followingdelay by the Government in finalising Ramesh''s name for thepost.
