India closely monitoring situation in Egypt: Krishna
Kochi, Jan 31 (PTI) India is "closely" monitoring thesituation in Egypt but views developments there as an internalmatter of that country, External Affairs Minister S M Krishnasaid today.
"We are closely monitoring the situation. The view ofgovernment of India is that developments in Egypt are aninternal matter of that country," he told reporters here.
"We have very cordial relations with the government ofEgypt. What is happening there is an internal affair of thatcountry and we do not intend to involve ourselves in thematter of another country," he said.
The government was willing to provide all help,including air travel facilities, to Indians wanting to comeback to India from Egypt, he said.
Krishna said he had spoken to the Indian ambassador inEgypt and had been told that two planeloads of women andchildren have landed at Mumbai and New Delhi.
"All Indians are safe in Egypt. About 3,200 Indiansare in Egypt, of whom about 2,000 are in Cairo," he said.
"We are in close touch with our embassy. Government ofIndia is willing to provide all help to those who want to comeback including their air travel facilities," he said.
