Ford India marks record car sales in Jan 2011

Bangalore, Feb 1: Ford India, the subsidiary of American multinational automaker Ford, announced on Monday, Feb 1 that the company has achieved best monthly sales performance ever, with 10,026 units sold in Jan 2011.

Ford India claimed that it had sold 10,026 units in Jan 2011 against 2453 units sold in Jan 2010, which marked a more than four-fold increase. With sale of more than 10,000 units in a single month, Ford passed its previous record of of 9,478, set in Mar 2010.

More over, Ford's prestigious model and one of India"s best-selling vehicles, Ford Figo hit an all-time new monthly high, with more than 8,600 units sold in Jan. This marks the best monthly sales performance for the Figo since its launch in March 2010.

"2010 was a landmark year for us, with Ford nearly tripling its annual sales es volume. Now we"ve begun 2011 with record-setting January sales. We have carried the momentum of last year's terrific performance into the new year by crossing the 10,000-unit sales mark," said Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India.

"We are constantly fine-tuning our performance for maximum growth, and this is just the beginning of what I anticipate will be an incredible year for the company," he added.

Boneham said that the company is extremely happy to see Ford Figo's acceptance among Indians and winning so many prestigious awards in the automobile industry.
