Uma offers to campaign for BJP in Uttar Pradesh

Bhopal, Jan 31 (PTI) Firebrand former BJP leader, UmaBharti, today said that she is like a ''blank cheque'' forthe saffron party in Uttar Pradesh and it can be encashed inany way it wanted for bringing the party back into power inthe politically important state next year.

"I am like a blank cheque for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.

It can be encashed in any way it wanted to bring it back topower in that state," Bharti told reporters informally after aseminar jointly organised by Jago Hind Sangthan and KisanSangarsh Morcha.

"I had a talk with the senior BJP leader LK Advani andthe party President Nitin Gadkari yesterday and I told themthey can utilise my services in any way they want in UttarPradesh," she said.

To a question on returning back to the BJP, she saidthat at present she has no intention of going back to the BJPand added that she has also told Advani and Gadkari humblythat she wanted to stay away from the politics for some time.

She also said that at present she would fight for thefarmers cause.

On the issue of farmers committing suicide as theircrops got damaged due to frost and cold wave, Bharti said thatthe situation in Madhya Pradesh is fast resembling that inVidarbha and Telangana in this regard.

Both the State and the Centre should avoid playingpolitics on the issue and make a combined effort to stopfarmers from committing suicide, she said. .
