RJD MLA''s bodygaurd fires at junior doctors in a hospital

Gaya (Bihar), Jan 30 (PTI) Angry over the delay in thetreatment of a patient, the bodyguard of an RJD MLA fired attwo junior doctors here in a hospital following heatedarguments between them.

Surendra Prasad Yadav, a four-time MLA from BelaganjAssembly constituency in Gaya, had gone to AN Medical Collegeand Hospital here with a patient.

Complaining a delay in the treatment, the MLA hadheated exchanges with the doctors after which his bodyguardfired from his official rifle at two intern doctors.

Dr S P Das from Assam and Dr Shahbuddin sustainedbullet injuries in their legs.

Protesting against the incident, hospital employeesand junior doctors held demonstrations demanding arrest of theMLA and his bodyguard.

They also burnt a jeep of the local police station.

When contacted, senior superintendent of police AmitLodha said an FIR is being lodged against the MLA and hisbodyguard.

"Necessary legal action will be taken against them. Wehave ordered a probe into the incident," he said.
