Man sentenced to life for killing daughter

Malkangiri (Orissa), Jan 31 (PTI) A fast track courthere today sentenced a man to life imprisonment and penalty ofRs 2,000 after finding him guilty of killing his5-year-old daughter.

The judgement was pronounced by additional districtjudge Prasanna Kumar Karna while disposing a case relating tothe killing of Som Madkami at MV-79 village in Malkangiridistrict.

The incident took place on April 25, 2010 when GangaMadkami attacked his daughter with a blunt wooden object. Thegirl died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. Ganga wasarrested from jungle two days after the killing, saidgovernment pleader Bhabani Mishra.

"The man who worked as a black magician confessed tohave killed the daughter with belief of getting divine power,"Mishra said adding the incident took place when the victim''smother was away from the house.
