Lifer for killing wife
Rourkela, Jan 31 (PTI) A Sundargarh-based Fast Trackcourt today convicted a person for killing his wife in Maylast year and sentenced him to undergo life imprisonment.
Additional District and Session Judge Ananda ChandraBehera found Biranchi Nayak guilty for stabbing his wife,Niyati (22) to death on May 27, 2010 at Didiga village.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 and orderedadditional jail term of three months in case of default ofpayment of the fine.
The court had examined nine witnesses during trial andconvicted Biranchi, who had killed his wife suspecting hercharacter.
In another judgement, the same court convicted oneSattrughan Singh of Sundargarh town and sentenced him toundergo rigorous imprisonment for seven years for killingBhagirathi, an auto driver, on May 14,2010.
The court had examined eight witnesses including twoeye witnesses during the trial.
Singh was prosecuted under 304 IPC, who in a fit ofanger had beaten his friend Bhagirathi to death following aquarrel over a petty matter.
