Govt taking issue of Chinese nationals seriously: Antony
New Delhi, Jan 31 (PTI) Taking a "serious" note ofreports suggesting spurt in clandestine activities by Chinesenationals in India, Defence Minister A K Antony today saidinvestigating agencies were looking into the issue to find outthe truth.
In recent times, four persons of Chinese nationality havebeen apprehended from different parts of the country forsuspicious activities and agencies are also interrogating the17th Karmapa over his alleged links to China.
"Agencies concerned are inquiring into the details andgovernment is taking the issue seriously. We are trying tofind out the details and the truth," he said.
The minister was responding to queries about allegedspurt in suspicious activities by Chinese nationals in India.
Expressing concern over the fate of Indians stuck inEgypt, Antony said, "The government is concerned about thedevelopments there and the safety of Indians."
He said the External Affairs Ministry (MEA) and the CivilAviation Ministry are in constant touch and are making allnecessary arrangements to bring back the Indians from there.
"Both the ministries are monitoring the situation. Theywill take whatever action needed for the safety of Indiansthere," the Minister said.
In protests against the government in Egypt, more than100 people have lost their lives and several thousand havebeen left injured in the last six days.
