Forest Range officer gheraoed

Jhargram(WB), Jan 31 (PTI) The Forest Range officer ofNayagram in West Midnapore district was today gheraoed by somepeople at his office, Forest department sources said.

Range officer Ashok Sen was distributing money to thosepeople of Nayagram village, whose crop or houses were damagedby elephants in the year 2009-2010.

People from other villages also came to the office anddemanded that they also be paid compensation for crop or housedamaged by elephants.

They then gheraoed the Range officer in his office, thesources said adding police has been informed about the matter.
