Diarrhoea affects 100 people in Cuttack

Cuttack, Jan 30 (PTI) Diarrhoea, that broke out in analarming proportion in Baselihata village of Narasinghapurblock of this district two days ago, has affected nearly onehundred people, official sources said today.

However, there was no casualty in the area which islocated about 90 kms from the district headquarters here.

��������A large number of diarrhoea-hit people were admittedin several local hospitals while many were shifted here to SCBMedical College and Hospital during the last two days.

"However, many affected patients were discharged fromthe hospitals and those under treatment are stated to be outof danger," said district chief medical officer Dr ManoramaDei who visited the area yesterday.

Consumption of contaminated water was the only causeof the outbreak of the disease as the water pipelines in thearea had broken polluting the water, the CDMO said.

"People were advised not to take pipe water as thepipelines are now being changed and pure drinking water wassupplied by the public health department through water tankersin the area," she added.
