Cold wave continues to sweep northern plains

Chandigarh, Jan 31 (PTI) Cold conditions continued toprevail in many parts of Punjab and Haryana today with themercury dipping below normal.

Patiala was the coldest place in Punjab at 4.4 degreeCelsius, three notches below normal. Amritsar was equally coldat a low of 4.8 degree Celsius while the low at Ludhiana was7.9 degree Celsius.

In Haryana, Hisar experienced a cold night at 5.6degree Celsius, down one notch, while Narnaul registered aminimum of 5 degree Celsius, down one degree.

Cold conditions prevailed in Bhiwani as well, with thelow settling at 5.6 degree Celsius, down two notches.

The minimum in Chandigarh settled at 7.7 degreeCelsius, one above normal.
