BSNL attracted 14,000 new customers in AP after MNP launch

Hyderabad, Jan 31 (PTI) The Bharat Sanchar NigamLimited''s (BSNL) AP Circle was able to attract 14,000 newcustomers, while losing 4,000 customers to other networkssince the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) facility started onJanuary 20, a BSNL AP Circle official said today.

According to Rajeev Aggarwal, circle chief GeneralManager, there are currently as many as 11,436 applicationspending to join BSNL while 2,550 are opting out.

"So far 14,000 customers have already opted to join BSNLwhile 4,000 customers have opted to go out. Currently 11,436customers are in "port in process" while 2,550 are in port outprocess. With good services and better tariff plans beingoffered by BSNL compared to its competitors BSNL is likely tofurther grow," Aggarwal told reporters at a press conference.

He pointed out that there are few glitches as the processto shift to BSNL using MNP takes about five days but it wouldbe overcome soon.

Aggarwal said most of the subscribers opting out to otherservice providers or joining BSNL are from prepaid category.

He said BSNL has a subscriber base of 63 lakh in thecountry and stands first in Andhra Pradesh in terms of annualgrowth of 5.9 percent to 6 percent.
