18-year old boy arrested for rape and assault of teenaged girl

Coimbatore, Jan 31 (PTI) An 18-year old boy was arrestedtoday on charges of rape and assault of a teenaged school girlin the city.

Police said the 17-year old girl, a plus one student, hadbecome friends with the boy, while she was visiting herfriend''s house, in Puliyakulam in the city and later fallen inlove with him.

The boy, who managed to take some obscene photographs of thegirl with his mobile phone, started blackmailing her andallegedly exploited the girl sexually for the last six months,police said.

As she refused to go with him, the boy alleged beat herwith a log a couple of days ago. She then lodged a complaintwith the All women police station, along with her grandparents, with whom she was staying at Periyanaicken Palayam onthe city outskirts, police said.

Based on the complaint, the boy was arrested and cases ofrape and assault registered against him, police added.
