TNEB official held on graft charge

Tiruchirappalli, Jan 29 (PTI) A Revenue Supervisor of theTamil Nadu Electricity Board was arrested today for allegedlyaccepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a cottage jeweller,officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption(DVAC) said.

The Supervisor, M Dhanraj, had demanded Rs 5,000 as bribefrom Prakash Malli Sahib Sait, running a cottagejewellery-making unit, for not charging electricity tariff oncommericial basis, they said.

Sait, who negotiated with Dhanraj to reduce the bribeamount to Rs 3,000, filed a complaint with the DVAC and thesupervisor was held while accepting the bribe, officials said.
