Six detonators recovered from AP''s Mahabubnagar district
Hyderabad, Jan 30 (PTI) City police today recovered sixsmall electric detonators on the Gadwal-Aiza route inMahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh following a phone callfrom an unknown person.
The unknown caller, also called up the state Minister forInformation and Public Relations D K Aruna (who hails fromMahabubnagar district) and the Gadwal police stating that somepersons had planted landmines on a road near Gadwal, a seniorpolice officer said.
The police and the bomb squad personnel rushed to thearea and found the small electric detonators kept on theroad-side which was connected with wire placed in nearbybushes, Mahabubnagar District Superintendent of Police SudhirBabu told PTI.
"It''s not as such a serious matter. No explosive wasfound from the site. The act was only to create some panic.
However, we have registered a suo-moto case," he added.
Aruna, who frequently travels to Mahbubnagar hadyesterday attended the ''Rachabanda'' (mass contact programme )meet.
Gadwal Police have a registered a case under the relevantsections of the Explosives Substances Act and are furtherinvestigating the matter.
