Punjab-Haryana High Court on fire; records ruined

Chandigarh, Jan 30: In the wee hours of Sunday, Jan 30, a major fire broke out in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Most of the important documents have been destroyed, sources informed.

One of the old records room, situated on the ground floor of the court caught fire. Five fire brigades were used to control the fire.

"We got a call at around 3.45 a.m. about a fire in the high court's record room. We immediately reached the spot and started rescue operation. We managed to control the fire in about four hour's time," fire brigade officials informed.

However, no reports of casualties have been reported yet, though sources informed, "Many old files were damaged in the flames."
