''Proactive discussions held to expand Chennai Trade Centre''

Chennai, Jan 30 (PTI) A top official of the India TradePromotion Organisation (ITPO), the nodal agency set up bythe Government of India for promoting the country''s externaltrade, said the organisation is holding "very proactive"discussions with the State Government over the expansion ofthe Chennai Trade Centre (CTC).

Though it was inaugurated years back, there has been adelay in the CTC''s expansion.

Neeraj Kumar Gupta, ITPO Executive Director, said, "boththe ITPO and the Tamil Nadu Government are very proactivelyengaged in solving the small pending issues so that ChennaiTrade Centre will be expanded".

Declining to explain the reasons behind the delay inexpanding the CTC, Gupta said he would meet State Governmentofficials this week. "I will try to meet them. It ispossible to resolve this issue", he told reporters here.

The CTC, spread over 25 acres at Nandambakkam near StThomas Mount here, can be used to organise businessexhibitions, conferences, conventions and other trade,commerce and industry-related events.

It is a joint venture of ITPO and Tamilnadu IndustrialDevelopment Corporation (TIDCO), Government of Tamil Nadu.
