Obstruction of Parliament not undemocratic: Arun Jaitley
Ranchi, Jan 30 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley has said that obstruction of Parliament is not undemocratic.
"Parliament's job is to conduct discussions. But many a times Parliament is used to ignore issues and in such situations obstruction of Parliament is in the favour of Democracy. Therefore, Parliamentary obstruction is not undemocratic," Jaitley, here to attend Jharkhand BJP executive, told a press conference in Ranchi.
Jaitley further said that he hopes the Central Government would stick to its word and discuss all issues including corruption in the upcoming Budget session of Parliament scheduled to begin from February 21.
Jaitley also claimed that the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) is no more a strong alliance capable to rule the country.
"There is a drift in the UPA government and their vision of state craft is also falling weak," added Jaitley.
Commenting on the appointment of Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) P. J. Thomas, Jaitley said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram are the persons who backed the appointment of the controversial bureaucrat as CVC.
Asked about issues of corruption concerning the BJP in Karnataka, Jaitley agreed to go deep into the matter at party level.
He described the allegations against state Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa as politically motivated.
"No institution or judicial body has pointed fingers at the chief minister. Instead, it is the Governor of the state who sanctioned prosecution which is apparently politically motivated," he added.
Reposing faith on the Munda Government in Jharkhand, Jaitely complimented the Chief Minister by saying "Well begun is half done".
He asked the allies to join hands with Munda in taking the state to the path of development by ensuring stability. (ANI)
