Music festivals revive cultural glory in J-K: Chand

Jammu, Jan 29 (PTI) Jammu and Kashmir government todaysaid music festivals help in sensitising younger generationabout rich art and cultural heritage of the state.

Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand lauded the organisers of''Samapa Aalap'' music festival in promoting classicial music.

The classical, sufi and folk musical event was organisedby ''Sopori Academy of Music and Performing Arts'' (SaMaPa) andTourism department.

Chand said efforts of Samapa, music legend pandit BhajanSopori and the young maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori are creatinga new generation of performers.

This year the festival featured around 25 presentationspread over 17 days where various eminent internationallyacclaimed musicians from various parts of the countryperformed.
