Idols worth several crores stolen

Azamgarh, Jan 30 (PTI) Idols worth several crores andsome jewellery was stolen from temples in different parts ofthe district, police said here today.

Precious ''ashtadhatu'' idols of Radha and Krishna werestolen from historical Radha-Krishna temple in LakhmanpurPatti village by unidentified persons late last night, theysaid.

The idols are worth several crore rupees in theinternational market, police said, adding that a case had beenregistered.

In a similar incident unidentified persons stolesilver crowns, canopies and utensils from the idols of lordHanuman and goddess Durga from a temple in Badadeo area, theysaid.
