BDO arrested for accepting bribe
Meerut, Jan 29 (PTI) A Block Development Officer (BDO) inParikhshitgarh, under Meerut district, was arrested forallegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000, police said.
BDO Bhagwan Dass Verma was allegedly caught accepting Rsfifty thousand as bribe from Jogender Tyagi last night, policesaid.
Tyagi had sought a correction in the name of his fatherin the ''Parivar Register'' after the ADO Panchayat hadallegedly written his name as ''Rajender'' instead of ''MahendraSingh'', they added.
Verma had allegedly demanded Rs one lakh and fiftythousand for correcting the name of the complainant''s fatherin a ''Parivar Register,'' they said.
The case was handed over to the BDO after Tyagicomplained on ''Mawana Thesil Day,'' who allegedly demanded overRs one lakh for rectifying the mistake, they said.
Later, DM Meerut Bhuvnesh Kumar had deputed PWD ExecutiveEngineer Sudhanshu Kumar and Judicial Assistant-I Vijay KumarSharma, with the vigilance team headed by Inspector SuratSingh who allegedly caught Verma.
