80,000 Bihar lawyers to stay away from work for two days

Patna, Jan 29 (PTI) Around 80,000 lawyers across Biharwill observe a two-day ceasework from January 31 to press forabolishing evening courts in the state.

Holding of evening courts, introduced by Patna HighCourt, was not possible in the state due to lack of necessaryinfrastructure, Bihar State Bar Council Evening Courts SpecialCommittee chairman Rajednra Prasad Singh said here.

The decision on the ceasework was taken at an emergencymeeting of the Committee during the day.

''''The power supply across the state is erratic and itincreases the problems of lawyers in participation of eveningproceedings,'''' Singh said.

One evening court each in 30 of the total 38 districtsin Bihar is functional since December 6, 2010, he added. PTICOR AJK KK
