7 years rigorous-imprisonment for rape of minor

Bijnor, Jan 30 (PTI) A man who kidnapped and raped a16-year-old girl almost two years back has been awarded with 7years rigorous-imprisonment by a local court.

Additional District Judge (III) Het Ram Singh sentencedPappu alias Chhanga, a resident of Muhammadpur Deomal villageunder Mandawar police station, to the term on Friday.

Pappu had taken advantage of the intimacy that he sharedas a regular visitor, with the then 16-year-old minor''s familyand kidnapped and raped the girl on March 28, 2009.

Acting on the complaint of the girl''s father Dharam Veer,the police recovered her a few days later from the Railwaystation at Chandok.

The girl then told the police that the accused had takenher to Jallandhar, where he raped her.

Finding him guilty of kidnapping and rape, the seven yearsentence was given with a fine of Rs 2,000.
