Farmer sets self afire over forced land grabbing

Lucknow, Jan 29: Following a forceful agriculture land acquisition by the Irrigation Department, a farmer in Uttar Pradesh set himself afire.

35-year-old Babbu Kushwaha, a resident of Jhir village, received more than 60 percent burning injuries. Kushwaha with several other farmers protested over demanding higher compensation to peasants for their land to be affected by a proposed government project.

The incident happened Kabrai area of Bundelkhand"s Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh.

However, he has been admitted to hospital.
