Security forces in Pakistan kill eight terrorists

Peshawar, Jan 27 (PTI) Security forces killed eightmilitants in a gun battle while a would-be suicide bomber blewhimself up when he was surrounded by troops in northwestPakistan today, officials said.

Eight militants were killed and 20 more wereapprehended when rebels clashed with security forces in therestive Mohmand tribal region, Frontier Corps spokesman MajFazlur Rehman said.

In the Bajaur tribal region, a would-be suicide bomberdetonated his explosive vest when he was intercepted andencircled by security forces. An accomplice of the bomber wasarrested, officials said.

In yet another incident, four soldiers, including anofficer and a junior commissioned officer, were injured whenan improvised explosive device went off in Lakaro area ofMohmand Agency.

In the Orakzai tribal region, security forces actingon a tip-off from intelligence agencies seized a cache of armsand ammunition.

The cache seized in Kangana village included 350shells for 80 mm mortar, 230 rockets, 370 fuses, rifles andammunition.
