Pandian among 400 CPI workers arrested
Coimbatore, Jan 27 (PTI) Around 400 CPI workers, includingparty''s Tamil Nadu secretary D Pandian, were arrested nearPollachi in the district today, when they attempted toretrieve some encroached land in a village, claiming that itwas allotted to poor families by government 30 years ago.
According to Pandian, the 60-acre land in Odakulam villagenear Anamalai was allotted to 37 families in 1981 and theSupreme Court had also ruled in favour of the families.
The workers, including 100 women, who attempted to removethe barbed wire and encroachments around the land, werearrested for trespassing, police said.
