Minister calls for SME stock exchange to boost sector
Mumbai, Jan 27 (PTI) Union Water Resources MinisterSalman Khursheed today said there was a need to provide betterinfrastructure and a separate stock exchange to boost smalland medium enterprises (SMEs).
"There is a transition from a rural agricultureeconomy to a much more modern and liberal economy. However,even today the SME sector is facing the challenge of incomedisparity. To do away with this and to encourage the sector,there is a need to provide much better infrastructure," hesaid at the Global Economic Summit here.
He called for developing a strong supply-chain forprocessing agriculture produce. "An exchange for SMEs shouldalso be developed so that the enterprises can raise fundsthrough equity," he said.
