MCD to award merit scholarships to students of class IV, V
New Delhi, Jan 27 (PTI) The MCD is organising a competitiontomorrow for awarding merit scholarships to 7,000 students ofclass IV and V in its primary schools.
Mahinder Nagpal, Chairman of MCD Education Committee, todaysaid about 52,000 students of MCD schools will take part inthe competition.
According to Nagpal, 3500 students each in class IV and V,scoring over 60 per cent marks in the competition, will getscholarship of Rs 500 and Rs 700 respectively on the basis ofmerit list in the month of March, 2011.
He said for the purpose, around Rs 42 lakh under plan headof account will be spent.
MCD is running 1,746 primary schools having an enrolmentof around 9.5 lakh children. In addition, it runs attachednursery classes in 923 primary schools along with 33independent nursery schools with enrolment of 50,000 children.
