Ill-gotten wealth from scams stashed in Swiss banks: Sukhbir

Hoshiarpur, Jun 27 (PTI) Accusing Congress-led UPA ofshying away from revealing names of those who have stashedaway money in tax havens abroad, Punjab Deputy Chief MinisterSukhbir Singh Badal today said all the ill-gotten wealth fromscams like 2G spectrum was salted away in Swiss banks.

"The Congress is dragging its feet on this issue... thefact is that all ill-gotten money worth lakhs of crores invarious scams including 2G scam has been stashed in Swiss bankaccounts," Badal, who heads ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in thestate, alleged.

He described the Congress as the "fountainhead of blackmoney and corruption in the country."

He said that any law to give amnesty to black moneyholders or Swiss bank account holders was not acceptable "asit amounted to legalizing crime".

Earlier, addressing a rally here after dedicatingprojects worth Rs 117 crore to people of Hoshiarpur includingRs 102 crore underground sewerage projects, Badal said Punjabunder the SAD-BJP government had made "unprecedented progressin all areas that has made Congress party jittery".

Responding to the charges levelled from time to time byvarious Congress leaders that the SAD-BJP Government hadfailed on all fronts, Sukhbir said they were feeling jitteryand "raising a hue and cry on non issues which reflects theirfrustration".
