Five Maoists surrender before Andhra police
Visakhapatnam (AP), Jan 27 (PTI) Five members --including two women -- of the CPI-Maoist militia voluntarilysurrendered before the police in Koyyuru mandal of thedistrict today.
Those who surrendered before Koyyuru ASP Tafseer Iqbalwere involved in offences like burning a bus, road blocking,as well as giving shelter to the Maoists for the past severalyears.
"The five (Maoist) militia members surrendered beforeme. We have not arrested them, they are being counselled andwill be later freed," Tafseer Iqbal told PTI.
It may be recalled that a group led by G Chinakka andnine other maoists voluntarily surrendered beforeVisakhapatnam District Police OSD (Operations) Trivikram Vermain November last year.
