BJP wins Kangra Zila Parishad, Congress captures Shimla
Shimla, Jan 27 (PTI) The ruling BJP today captured theKangra Zila Parishad, the largest in Himachal Pradesh, whileCongress retained the Shimla Zila Parishad.
BJP''s Shrestha Kaundal won the post of Kangra ZilaParishad chairperson defeating Congress'' Kusum Lata.
Shrestha polled 34 votes against 22 votes polled byKusum.
BJP''s Jagdev Singh also polled 34 votes for the post ofvice-chairperson against Congress'' Akshay, who also got 22votes.
The Congress factions led by Union Minister V B Singh andLeader of the Opposition in state Assembly Vidya Stokes todayclosed ranks and captured Zila Parishad Shimla, winning theposts of Chairperson and vice chairperson.
Aniruddh Thakur defeated Indu Verma of BJP for the postof chairperson, while Prahalad Kashyap defeated Surinder Singhof BJP for the post of vice-chairperson.
Thakur polled 14 votes against nine votes by Verma, whileKashyap polled 14 votes against 10 votes by Surinder Singh.
