Apple removes Nazi Party anthem from iTunes online store
London, Jan 28 (ANI): Apple has announced that it has removed a Nazi Party anthem from the German version of its iTunes online music store after it was revealed that it sold songs and albums of neo-Nazi bands.
The song, 'Horst Wessel Lied' had been named after a young party activist killed in 1930, and it had been the unofficial anthem of the Nazis, the Telegraph reported.
The Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung daily was the first to report the availability of Nazi anthems on iTunes and Internet retailer Amazon.
It also reported that Apple's iTunes store also sold songs and albums of neo-Nazi bands that had been banned by the government.
A spokesman for Apple said the anthem has been taken off iTunes, but did not say if other songs popular with neo-Nazis in Germany have also been removed.
Amazon is reported also to have removed banned far-right songs. (ANI)
