Nelson Mandela
Johannesburg, Jan 28: The frail hero of South African democracy Nelson Mandela released from hospital and returned to his home in the Johannesburg suburb of Houghton on Friday, Jan 28. Mandela garbed the headlines and worldwide attention since Wednesday, after being hospitalized for acute respiratory infection. South African officials underplayed over the health condition of former President to suppress 48 hours of growing panic.

The Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe said, "what I convey is that he is receiving the best treatment from the best available health professionals in this country. That should reassure all of us that there is no need for us to panic, there is no need for us to fear for Mandela 's health. He's in good hands."

The South Africa's surgeon general, VJ Ramlakan said, “there is no need to panic or to try to see more in what we are saying. For a 92-year-old, he surprises us on a daily basis on his power of recovery."

Sources said that Mandela was admitted to Milpark hospital on late Wednesday, since then he had received over 10,000 messages of goodwill from around the world.
