TV actor Raja Chaudhary arrested in assault case, gets bail

Mumbai, Jan 27 (PTI) Television actor Raja Chaudharyhas been arrested for allegedly assaulting his former wife andthe Big Boss'' winner Shweta Tiwari, police said today.

Chaudhary, on the run after beating up his ex-wife,was picked up from Lokhandwala area yesterday afternoon,police said adding that he was produced before a local courttoday which granted him bail.

According to police, Chaudhary barged into Shweta''shouse in Shiv Shakti society in suburban Malad on Tuesdayaround 1 am, and assaulted her and her friend Abhinav Kohli.

Tiwari, the first woman to win in the reality show BigBoss, lodged a complaint on the same day, police said.

"Chaudhary was booked for assaulting his wife and herfriend, trespassing into the house, and abusing," said R DPrabhu, Senior Inspector at Malad police station.

On Tuesday, after Shweta lodged the complaint, hecould not be traced, the officer said adding that "we pickedhim up from Lokhandwala area yesterday".

Chaudhary was today produced before a local courtwhich first remanded him to judicial custody. "Later, heapplied for bail. He was granted cash-bail of Rs 20,000 by thecourt," Prabhu said.
