Small sugar weakens on poor demand

Mumbai, Jan 27 (PTI) Small sugar prices weakened at theVashi Wholesale market here today due to lack of demand fromstockists coupled with lower retail offtake.

Meanwhile, medium sugar variety ended stable in theabsence of worthwhile buying.

Small sugar quality (S-30) moved down by Rs 10 perquintal to Rs 2,821/2,871 from Tuesday''s closing level ofRs 2,831/2,881.

Medium sugar quality (M-30), however closed unchanged atRs 2,871/2,931 per quintal.

The following are today''s closing rates per quintal, withthe previous rates in brackets:

Small sugar (S-30) quality Rs 2,821/2,871 (Rs 2,831/2,881) and medium sugar (M-30) quality Rs 2,871/2,931(Rs 2,871/2,931).
