Revenue officer commits suicide, kin allege harassment

Lucknow, Jan 27 (PTI) A backward community officer of therevenue department committed suicide in Alambagh areaallegedly due to harassment by two senior officials, who werelater suspended, police said here today.

Baburam Maurya, who was posted in Mohanlalganj tehsil asa land official, jumped in front of a moving train nearMawaiya railway crossing in Alambagh yesterday, they said,adding that Maurya''s kin alleged that harassment by his seniorofficers forced him to commit suicide.

"Sub divisional magistrate Sunil Chaudhary and tehsildarJ P Chauhan have been suspended against whom Maurya''s kin havelevelled charges of harassment and an inquiry has been orderedinto the matter," additional district magistrate R K Singhsaid.
