Nokia launches affordable mobile phone targeting youngsters

Ahmedabad, Jan 27 (PTI) Targeting youngsters who want tobe connected to social networking sites, Nokia today launchedits affordable mobile phone with QWERTY device in Gujarat.

"The Nokia X2-01 is competitively priced with colourfuldesign and optimised for messaging performance," head servicemarketing, Nokia India, Jasmeet Gandhi told mediapersons here.

"Among mobile phones, QWERTY category of phones are thefastest growing segment where messaging and accessing emailscould be faster," he said.

"The X2-01 is targeted at the youngsters who want to beconnected with the internet and social networking sites, andwant information on the go," Gandhi said.

It has been kept in the affordable range looking at thespending capacity of college goers and teenagers, he added.

Gandhi said with the new 3G spectrum coming in place,Nokia is also planning to add more 3G enabled phones to itsportfolio.

In the past few years the company has seen more businesscoming from the rural market rather than the urban centres, headded.

The main reason behind this growth from rural areas wasbecause the mobile operators had now started exploring therural markets, Gandhi said.
