Intense cold wave grips Kashmir, Ladakh
Srinagar, Jan 27 (PTI) Unwavering sub-zero temperaturecontrolled Kashmir, where Pahalgam and Gulmarg tourist resortswere the coldest places, even as the mercury in Kargil hoveredaround 20 degrees below freezing point overnight.
Night temperature across Kashmir were several degreesbelow freezing point as region was in the grip of an intensecold wave, a MeT department official said here today.
Pahalgam recorded minus 10.5 degrees Celsius and theminimum temperature in Gulmarg was minus 10.2 deg C.
The minimum temperature in Kargil town of Ladakhregion settled at minus 20.4 deg C while Leh witnessed a lowof minus 19.1 deg C, the official said.
Srinagar city witnessed a slightly warmer night atminus 4.2 deg C, an increase of 0.2 deg than yesterday.
Qazigund froze at minus 6.6 deg C while the nighttemperature in Kokernag was minus 4.4 deg C. Kupwara recordeda low of minus 4.6 deg C.
